The whole midnights album is equivalent to reading a whole teen romance book mixed with love, conflict and self-acceptance. It's so beautiful!

Btw It’s not about being a teenager. Taylor is a grown woman. Just because songs have a nice upbeat, doesn’t mean the content is for teens. She is a universal artist. And some of us grew up with her since elementary when she really was a teen making teen music so it would be odd to suggests she is only catering to an age even she no longer relates to and has abandoned her original supporters. But also it’s that she makes it clear what perspective she’s talking about in every album if you listen. It’s always current Taylor or early twenties Taylor. She hasn’t written about being a teen since she actually was one and it But she literally references all too well on maroon, where she says turning 21 is supposed to be fun. Maroon picks up at the end of that relationship when she’s realizing it wasn’t as vibrant and red(she really is great at tying in stories from past albums) as it seemed originally because he has taken advantage of her but at the same time it’s implied someone misunderstood what the relationship was. The rest of the album kind of revolves around her current life or major incidents like Karma is is obviously about how she played it clean and bounced back stronger than ever after Kanye tried to bury her This song is about giving up the petty drama from you to focus on loved ones so she can focus on Joe, it’s her first private relationship which is why she says love is true when it’s kept to yourself, that’s an adult realization she has made and she in general no longer feels the need to validate herself through public opinion now flag she’s a woman who knows herself and her value

I think this song is the embodiment of the relationship she shares with Joe Alwyn. She is just above, far and far away from all the drama that she has been put through the media, because she is now with someone who is able to provide that absolute state of bliss where nothing else really matters except her and her lover, and the little world they have together. Incidentally, I was watching 'Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions' the other day, and every time she talked about Joe, she was literally glowing. I don't think that level of happiness can be faked for the sake of the camera. I really really love that finally, she is so happy, healthy and just radiating positivity.

@kirstie b at first I didn't understand the hype. I was actually confused about why people liked it, but I've listened to the entire album multiple times and I'm obsessed with it now. I think it might be because it's such an understated genre that she's gone for with this album. The song don't necessarily jump out at you because they are all very chilled songs, so you have to familiarise yourself with them before you start to 'get it'. Keep listening and you might find that you enjoy some of the songs
