not a swiftie but i’m a film student and i’ve been on sets before so i really mean it when i say that she sounds like a very competent and effective director. the language she uses towards both the actors and the crew is clear but also really allows them to interpret the material in a way that gives them some artistic freedom as well. reaaaally impressive and probably something she’s naturally picked up on with all of the mv directors she’s worked with through the years. she’s also very hands on which is nice to see and very respectful of everyone on set whether their talent or production. just an all around a great director that, if given the chance, i would love to work with :))

All the comments complimenting her directorial abilities are amazing. What hits me hard is she knows exactly how it should be because she lived through it. She’s recreating moments from her own life, with the end poignantly showing how she remembers it today. “The stillness, the stoicism, the silence…We’re watching a person come of age.” Many of us have similar memories of losing our first loves and Taylor put that to music and now to vision. It’s truly remarkable.

This was SUCH an interesting video to watch. The way Taylor was directing them, watching her vision come to life and the way Sadie took direction IMMEDIATELY and just did it, is incredible to watch.

Sadie and Dylan did so amazing in this film. She really put her heart into it she deserves so much credit. And Taylor swift is so amazing seeing her make this is such a different side! She deserves the most credit as well for this art ❤

I’m a live theatre actress and I still don’t think I could’ve been able to follow the directions from a director so naturally on the first time like she did. She’s phenomenal

I’ve heard from other crews and casts that she’s amazing to work with. Apparently she’s extremely professional and impresses everyone who works with her.

Alot of people say Taylor never moved on and keeps bringing her past. I think it‘s unbelieavable and amazing that she makes her past as her inspiration which leads to her success and makes her how she is now. A strong inspiring woman👏🏻

the way taylor works will never stop surprising me. i don't know anything about directing but the way she would try her best to communicate exactly what she wanted to sadie and dylan but also at the same time, giving them a certain amount of freedom to make the characters their own was pretty amazing. genuinely cannot wait to see what else taylor decides to create or direct.

Not a swiftie, but I think my favorite thing about this is Taylor being able to express her mind clearly and calmly, and the other crews and actors could really pick it up without feeling rigid about what she envisions for the video, which a director should really embody. I used to direct short films for school back then, and this is the area where I struggled the most. Glad to see this behind-the-scenes footage. She’s excellent.

I've never been in a relationship but watching the film made me feel that loss, it was beautiful.

Taylor seems to have an innate ability to visualize a concept, a scene, or an emotion, and translate that vision into words. Her right and left brains work seamlessly together. Whether it's in the concept of a new album, the lyrics to a song, or the directions to others, the end product is professional and seemingly effortless. Of course, it's not and never was. It's taken her years and tears to arrive at this point. It's taken constant dedication to the minutiae to perfect her craft. And now here we all are, eagerly awaiting to see what's next.

well... i guess having been directed in a bunch of music videos and on the big screen helped quite a lot with that. and probably many many deep conversations with directors she's worked with before did help tremendously as well. having a vision for a story to be told in a video is one thing but understanding the technicalities of things, the whole craftsmanship behind it and what visuals and angles and lighting can and cannot do is quite a handful and a steep learning curve which one usually doesn't master single-handedly. so yeah, defo loads of respect for taking that on and succeed.

I'm so proud of everyone in this cast. Taylor, of course, has came SUCH a long way. She's matured, she's grown, and it's really so beautiful to see her direct her story. It must be so bittersweet to create such an emotional time in your life with people who have no idea what you went through. Sadie is an amazing actress. You can see the way she listens when Taylor talks, like she's trying to read the emotions. It's really so intriguing to watch her get instructions and then interpret those instructions into her own acting skills. I haven't seen anything Dylan has been in (at least that I can think of) but in this film he really does a great job of the jerky boyfriend who always has an excuse. It's so fun to see them all spend time together and work together. It amazes me that we're living during the time of such talented people.
