It's so sad to think about all the things the industry has put her through. If you think about the very innocent teenage Taylor entering the industry, and how much she's been through just doing what she loves..it's sad. I remember during the kimye drama, the people saying she was this "fake nice girl" persona and nobody stopped to think that the nice naive girl had to toughen up and grow a thick skin & stop trusting easily, she wasn't fake, she just had to adapt and evolve because of the insanity the industry throws at you

I think this is why my respect for taylor as an artist has gone up over the last few years. When 1989 came out I just brushed her off as another generic pop star with a ton of fangirls but after listening to her recent stuff I think she’s genuinely one of the most creative and talented people in modern music.

This whole song feels like a smoky, viscous red wine that trails down the side of the glass a while after that last sip. Her breathwork here is supreme, such tight intake with carefully calculated release. Chills. The contrast in her vocals when she transitions to the bridge broke my chills. Obsessed with this song, it just narrowly isn't in my top 5 (if you count the 3 edition, if not it totally is) but it's gotta be number 6 for sure! I love everything about it from being written by Taylor herself to the vibe to the lyrics and even the production is phenomenal! I keep seeing/hearing people say they don't love it because it sounds like a Billie Eilish rip off but that feeds into WHY I love it! Taylor has been in the industry for so long now and she's inspired SO many amazing artists, I love how in this album you can FEEL her taking inspiration from other artists! That's what makes music so special, it is an art form and sometimes you gotta change your art and have fun with it, try on other sounds and personas. I respect it even more for the fact that Billie has grown tremendously as an artist and doesn't always have that specific sound anymore so instead of stealing her thunder, Taylor made an homage to a fabulous and we'll respected artist while still keeping it SUPER Taylor.

The more i listen to this the more i like it. At first i was underwhelmed by its simplicity.
